Summary
SmoothDroid does not require an account, does not require an Android companion app, and does not upload the files you transfer to SmoothDroid. Transfers happen locally between your Mac and your Android device over USB/MTP.
The website uses basic analytics, checkout attribution, payment processing, download logging, and support email so SmoothDroid can be sold, delivered, improved, and supported.
The SmoothDroid app
The Mac app needs access to local files you choose and to the Android device storage exposed through USB File Transfer/MTP. File names, folder names, paths, sizes, and transfer progress may be processed locally so the app can browse, copy, rename, delete, create folders, and report errors.
The app does not include account login, in-app analytics, cloud sync, remote file storage, or automatic upload of your transferred files to SmoothDroid.
SmoothDroid may write operational messages to the macOS unified logging system, such as connection state, transfer names, local paths, device names, or error details. These logs remain on your Mac unless you choose to share them for support.
Website analytics and attribution
The SmoothDroid website uses Vercel Analytics and a small attribution script to understand traffic sources and whether the site is working. This can include page views, buy-button clicks, download-button clicks, support/report email clicks, the current page path, UTM campaign parameters, referrer host, browser platform, broad device class, and whether the visitor appears to be on a Mac.
The website may store first-touch, last-touch, and session attribution data in your browser's localStorage or sessionStorage for up to 90 days, unless you clear it earlier. This data is used to preserve source information when you move between SmoothDroid pages or go to Stripe checkout.
Purchases and downloads
Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes payment details, billing details, and other checkout information under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy. SmoothDroid may receive purchase information needed to deliver the app, handle refunds, answer support requests, and understand which sources led to purchases.
When the download endpoint serves the SmoothDroid DMG, it logs a download event with the artifact name, checksum, file size, timestamp, referrer, any Stripe checkout session identifier present in the URL, and a short hashed client identifier derived from request information such as IP address and user agent. Vercel may also process normal hosting logs for security, reliability, and operations.
Support and compatibility reports
If you email support or send a compatibility report, SmoothDroid will receive the information you include. This may include your email address, Mac model, macOS version, Android device model, Android version, SmoothDroid version, error text, screenshots, logs, and any other details you choose to provide.
Support information is used to troubleshoot, process refunds, improve compatibility, and respond to you.
Sharing
SmoothDroid does not sell your personal information. Data may be shared with service providers that help operate the website, process payments, deliver downloads, analyze site performance, send or receive email, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. These providers include Vercel for hosting and analytics and Stripe for checkout and payment processing.
Retention
Browser attribution storage expires after up to 90 days or when you clear your browser storage. Download logs, analytics records, purchase records, and support emails are kept for as long as reasonably needed for operations, accounting, fraud prevention, refunds, support, product improvement, and legal compliance.
Your choices
- You can clear browser storage or use browser privacy controls to limit website attribution storage.
- You can avoid sending support logs or screenshots that contain file names or paths unless they are needed for troubleshooting.
- You can request access, correction, or deletion of personal information by emailing support, subject to purchase, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal retention requirements.
Children
SmoothDroid is not directed to children under 13, and SmoothDroid does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
This policy may be updated as SmoothDroid changes. When it changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date.
