Built for the real Mac problem

When Android file transfer fails, SmoothDroid shows you why.

Private by default

Transfers stay on your cable between the Mac and Android device. SmoothDroid does not require uploads, accounts, or a paired phone app.

Finder-style workflow

Browse your Mac and Android storage side by side, then copy, paste, drag, rename, delete, and create folders from one focused window.

Conflict-aware

macOS and other transfer tools can grab the same USB interface. SmoothDroid detects common blockers and gives practical recovery actions.

Major features

The everyday Android-to-Mac file work is covered.

SmoothDroid is intentionally focused, but not barebones. It gives you the file operations that matter when you plug in a phone: browse, copy, drag, manage folders, watch progress, and recover from common connection blockers.

01 Copy both ways

Move files from Android to Mac or Mac to Android without routing them through a cloud account.

02 Drag and drop

Drag files and folders between the Mac pane and Android pane, or use explicit copy buttons.

03 Folder transfers

Copy whole folders recursively, useful for camera rolls, music folders, APK builds, downloads, and project files.

04 File management

Create folders, rename items, delete files, and navigate storage without switching tools.

05 Transfer progress

See active transfers, file names, progress, and errors instead of guessing whether the copy is stuck.

06 Connection recovery

When another Mac app blocks MTP access, SmoothDroid gives practical recovery guidance.

How to connect

Connect Android to Mac with a USB cable.

1

Install SmoothDroid

Open the DMG, drag SmoothDroid into Applications, then launch it on your Mac.

2

Connect and unlock Android

Use a data-capable USB cable, connect directly to the Mac, and keep the phone unlocked.

3

Choose File Transfer or MTP

Tap the Android USB notification and select File Transfer, MTP, or Android Auto.

4

Retry if it does not appear

If SmoothDroid does not connect straight away, reselect File Transfer/MTP, reconnect the cable in a different port, then click Retry Connection.

Compatibility

For Android devices that expose USB File Transfer/MTP.

SmoothDroid is designed for the standard Android USB file-transfer mode used by Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Nothing, Motorola, Sony, Xiaomi, and many Android-based media devices. Real device behavior can still vary, so the refund policy is part of the product.

Mac coverage

macOS 12 Monterey or newer, with a universal build for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Android setup

Unlock the phone, connect a data-capable cable, and choose File Transfer, MTP, or Android Auto from the USB notification.

If it does not connect

Try the built-in recovery steps, then email your Mac model, macOS version, phone model, and the error shown.
