First-user testing

Use SmoothDroid early and help confirm device compatibility.

SmoothDroid is a signed and notarized Mac app for Android USB/MTP file transfer. I am collecting real reports from Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus, Motorola, Sony, Xiaomi, Nothing, and other Android devices before a broader launch.

Who this is for

You are a good fit if Android File Transfer, OpenMTP, Image Capture, cloud sync, or a wireless workaround is not doing the job, and you specifically want a local USB transfer tool on macOS.

First-user licenses are limited and meant for people who can send a short compatibility report after testing.

What I need back

  • Your Mac model, chip type if known, and macOS version.
  • Your Android phone brand, model, and Android version.
  • Whether browsing, Android to Mac download, Mac to Android upload, folder transfer, rename, delete, and folder creation work.
  • Any connection issue, USB cable detail, or app conflict that SmoothDroid reports.

Known requirements

  • macOS 12 Monterey or newer, on Apple silicon or Intel.
  • An Android device that exposes File Transfer, MTP, or Android Auto over USB.
  • A data-capable USB cable, not a charge-only cable.
  • The phone unlocked while connecting, with File Transfer/MTP selected from the Android USB notification.

Devices I want to confirm

Samsung Galaxy Especially recent S, Z, A, and Ultra models.
Google Pixel Pixel 6 or newer, including Pro and Fold models.
OnePlus, Nothing, Motorola Useful for checking non-Samsung/non-Pixel MTP behavior.
Sony, Xiaomi, Oppo, Fairphone Less common Mac workflows are especially useful.
