Samsung and Mac

Samsung file transfer for Mac, over a cable.

SmoothDroid lets you browse a Samsung Galaxy phone and your Mac side by side, then copy photos, videos, downloads, documents, and folders over local USB/MTP.

How to connect

  1. Install SmoothDroid on macOS 12 Monterey or newer.
  2. Connect your Samsung Galaxy phone with a data-capable USB cable.
  3. Unlock the phone and choose File Transfer, MTP, or Android Auto from the USB notification.
  4. Use the Android pane to browse the phone and copy files both ways.

Built for common Galaxy transfer problems

Samsung phones often expose their file-transfer connection through MTP. On macOS, another app can claim the same USB interface before your transfer tool does. SmoothDroid checks for common blockers and gives recovery actions when that happens.

Why not just use cloud sync?

Cloud sync is useful, but it is not ideal for large video files, offline transfer, private local movement, or one-off folder copies. SmoothDroid keeps the transfer on your cable and does not require a Samsung, Google, or SmoothDroid account.
